EFEKTIVITAS BIODEINKING PADA PENGOLAHAN KERTAS BEKAS CAMPURAN

Abstract

Waste paper is one of fiber material which collected from the various resource such as offices, households, garbage, and so on. A primary difficulty of wasta paper preparation in  conventional deinking is ink contaminants. By the biotechnology development, it is possible to carry out biodeinking by using the enzyme to decrease the using of chemicals usually use in conventional deinking. So biodeinking in an environmentally fiendly process.

The experiments of using  local xylanase enzyme have been done stepwise. The steps are pulping, enzymatic reaction, dilution, flotation and washing. After word the  produced pulp made into handsheets, followed by optical and physical testing.

The results showed that the using of  0,5 – 2%  enzyme increase the brightness 1 – 3 point, and decrease the dirt count 65 -81%. At the same time tensile strength and  tearing strength increase by the increasing of enzyme dosage, but the porosity and roughnes are also increase. The best result isobain from 1% enzyme addition where the fibers suitable newsprint paper.

 Kertas bekas merupakan salah satu bahan serat yang dapat dikumpulkan dari berbagai sumber diantaranya perkantoran, rumah tangga, pembuangan sampah dan lain-lain. Beberapa kendala yang sukar dipecahkan pada pengolahan kertas bekas adalah penghilangan kontaminan khususnya tinta jika dilakukan secara deinking konvensional.Perkembangan bioteknologi memungkinkan dilakukan deinking secara enzimatis (biodeinking) untuk mengurangi penggunaan bahan kimia pada deinking konvensional sehingga lebih ramah lingkungan.

Penelitian penggunaan enzim xylanase lokal pada proses deinking kertas bekas campuran telah dilakukan, melalui tahapan proses penguraian, reaksi enzimasi, pengenceran, flotasi dan pencucian. Pulp yang dihasilkan dibuat lembaran dan dilakukan pengujian sifat optik dan sifat fisik kertas.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, penggunaan enzim sebanyak 0,5 – 2% meningkatkan derajat putih sekitar 1-3 poin dan menurunkan jumlah noda pada lembaran sekitar 65-81%. Ketahanan tarik dan ketahanan sobek lembaran menunjukkan peningkatan sejalan dengan dosis penambahan enzim, dengan  lembaran yang dihasilkan lebih porous dan kasar. Kondisi paling baik diperoleh pada penggunan enzim sebesar 1%, deinked pulp yang dihasilkan dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku untuk pembuatan kertas koran.
